Square with Trim

This pattern is developed as a complement to [Modular Bento Bag](/patterns/library/modular-bento-bag) to practice picking up stitches and adding applied icord trim with a loop. Finished piece is both a demonstration of technique and a functional mini washcloth. **YARN** Knit Picks Dishie or Dishie Twist in 1 or more colors or similar worsted weight cotton dishcloth yarn, 100% Cotton, 190 yd / 174 m per 100 g, [www.knitpicks.com][1] 20 g of worsted weight cotton is enough to make a square and trim. The square and the trim require approximately equal amounts of yarn. Samples shown use 11 yd / 10 m (6 g) of each color, approximately 22 yd / 20 m (12 g) of yarn total. **FINISHED DIMENSIONS** Width: 4.25” / 11 cm Height: 4.25” / 11 cm Hanging loop (adjustable): 2.5”-3” / 6.5-8 cm **GAUGE & NEEDLES** 15 stitches & 30 rows = 4” / 10 cm in garter stitch knit flat *Gauge is not critical but will impact finished size and yarn requirements.* US 6 / 4.0 mm circular needle or size needed to get gauge, minimum length 32” / 80 cm Crochet hook of similar size for provisional cast-on This is a written pattern and includes links to video tutorials.
