................................ JULAPIUM SOCKS ................................ Did you know that the origins of a popular summer cocktail trace back to the ancient gardens of
Persia? A rosewater elixir called Julab made its way into medieval Europe, where it was Latinised
to Julapium. Over the centuries, the concoction evolved to include regional floral and herbal infusions,
such as the French colonial variant known as the Mint Julep.

But what of the original Julapium? It was likely a golden colour. Rose petals pressed to a syrupy liquid, flavoured with essence of peach and almond, and topped with cardamon and turmeric spices …Taken for medicinal purposes, a-stumble through garden mazes on balmy days.

With their elegant lace motif resembling stylised rose trellises, the Julapium Socks are an ode to a
gauzy dreamscape - half-memory, half-fantasy - of long Summer evenings spent in fragrant gardens, with one’s favourite ancient elixir in hand.

unstretched sock measures approximately 15cm/ 6” (17cm/ 6.75”, 20cm/ 8”, 22cm/ 8.75”)
in foot/ leg circumference
…………………………….. OPTIONS Pattern provides options for: . full lace sock as shown, . full lace sock with stockinette heel, or . stockinette sock with 2 vertical lace panels Note that in fact there are 2 separate patterns included here, as the full lace and lace panel versions require different stitch counts. You can make both versions of the design for two quite different looks based on the same motif. …………………………….. THE INTEGRATED HEEL METHOD This pattern features the Integrated Heel method of construction, which looks similar to the traditional heel flap ad gusset, but is worked mainly in the round. The Juniveer Sock pattern instructions are sufficient to work the Integrated Heel if you are new to this method. However, if you are interested in a more in-depth guide to the Integrated Heel, a ‘vanilla sock’ pattern introducing this method is available here: [Basic Sock with Integrated Heel](/patterns/library/basic-sock-with-integrated-heel) ................................... The Julapium Socks are part of the [Lazy Lacy Summer Sock Club](/patterns/sources/lazy-lacy-summer-sock-club) Thank you and enjoy!
