> **8 year design anniversary celebration! 35% off Lab City and all > of my self published patterns until > July 27** *Lab City* *The second opening pattern to Landed, Volume 2. Inland and aptly named, Labrador City (Lab City) is another gateway to Labrador. A triangular shawl, worked top down and in the round with a steek, its colorwork is reminiscent of a beautiful labyrinth.* *Lab City is a triangle shawl worked top down with a steek. Once the body is complete and the steek is cut, the border is worked and frames your masterpiece. * **Important :** Lab City is pattern #2 of the "Landed, Volume 2: Labrador" e-book. As each of the 17 patterns in the e-book are published between now and through 2027, they will get added to the e-book. So if you buy the e-book now, you will get an update notification in your Ravelry library each time another pattern is added to it. **Size** 207.5cm / 81.75" wide and 103.5cm / 40.75" deep (including border) **Yarn** Istex Plötulopi (100% wool; 300 meters / 328 yards per 100 grams) in 2 colors, MC & CC, listed below with approximate meterage and yardage. If using the same sample yarn, the number of plates of each color is also given in brackets. MC 1432 Winter Blue Heather (blue; 3 plates): 870 meters / 945 yards CC 2025 Gulf Stream (teal blue; 2 plates): 520 meters / 570 yards **Gauge** To find your needle size, you need to swatch. Stranded Colorwork: 21 sts / 21 rnds to 10cm / 4" using size C needles **Needles & Notions** The gauges were achieved with the following needle size. To work the pattern as written, you must swatch and use a needle size that will result in the correct gauge after blocking. Note that the pattern is written assuming that the knitter needs to use a smaller needle for single-color stockinette. If your gauge does not change between single-color stockinette and stranded knitting, then you don't need to change needle sizes. Size A: 4mm (US 6) 100cm (40") long circular needles for the garter edging of the border Size B: 4.5mm (US 7) 100cm (40") long circular needles for single-color stockinette and DPNs for joining the border edges Size C: 5mm (US 8) circular needles of varying lengths for the stranded colorwork, and DPNs, if preferred, for small circumferences in the round You will also need: either a crochet hook and yarn, darning needle and thin yarn/thread, or felting tool and board for reinforcing steeks; scissors for cutting steeks; 4.5mm (US 7) crochet hook for surface crochet; removable markers; stitch markers. **Techniques** * Stranded colorwork in the round * Steeking * picking up stitches * decreasing stitches (k2tog and ssk) * surface crochet (on the border as a finishing detail) * modified 3-needle BO -------------------------------------------------------- Tech edited by Sue Hislop (on Ravelry as: [Sue-Cat](/people/Sue-Cat)
