Cabled Sumac Vest

**DESCRIPTION** Inspired by the leaves of a sumac tree, this fitted vest is embellished with a simple repeating cable pattern over a rib base. Designed to have a structured professional look, buttoned at the front, with a square neck, and a flare at the bottom of the button band. The vest is knit flat, constructed from the top down. The I-cord trim around the neck and the button bands are added at the end. The pattern features a repeating cable pattern over a 5x2 rib, with a 3x2 rib under the arms. For sizes 75-95 increases are made equally on the front and back of the garment. For sizes 105-165 additional increases are made on the front panels for the chest circumference. **SIZES | CHEST CIRCUMFERENCE** Sizes 75 (85, 95, 105, 115) [125, 135, 145, 155, 165] with a finished chest circumference of 83 (93, 97, 107, 116) [131, 141, 150, 160, 170] cm/ 33 (37, 39, 43, 46) [52, 56, 60, 64, 68] in. The final garment is intended to have approximately 0-6 cm [0-2 in] of positive ease. The sample is knit in size 95 with 5 cm [2 in] of positive ease from the wearer’s measurements. Note the pattern has been tested for sizes 75-125. If you are interested in testing any of the sizes which have not already been tested send me an email at moodyknits.design@gmail.com. **GAUGE** 28 sts and 35 rows = 10 cm/ 4 in in typical pattern repeat (chart C in pattern), with 3.50 mm [US 4] needles, blocked to desired stretch of the finished garment. **YARN** Sport weight yarn, with low elasticity (ex. cotton). Approximately 610 (670, 730, 830, 890) [1010, 1140, 1200, 1350, 1400] meters / 670 (730, 800, 910, 970) [1100, 1250, 1310, 1480, 1530] yards. Sample shown in Concept by katia Cotton-Cashmere (90% cotton, 10% cashmere, 155 m / 169 yd per 50 g / 1 ¾ oz ball) in color 54 Beige. If you use this yarn, you will need approximately 4 (5, 5, 6, 6) [7, 8, 8, 9, 10] balls. Other suggested yarns used by pattern testers are Concept by Katias’ Cotton-Alpaca (85% cotton, 15% alpaca), Knitpicks’ Cotlin Yarn (70% cotton, 30% linen), Lotus Yarns' Autumn Wind (90% cotton, 10% cashmere).
