Daydreamer tee

The Daydreamer Tee is the perfect companion to the Daydreamer Skirt: wear them together as a matching set, or style the tee on its own with your favourite linen pants or shorts for an effortless summer look. The tee is worked seamlessly in one piece from the top down with a relaxed, boxy fit and dropped shoulders. It is started at the back neck and increased to the full width of the back, then stitches are picked up for the shoulders and worked as the front. The front and back are joined at the underarm and the body is worked in the round. Sleeve stitches are then picked up directly from the body and worked in the round in the same stitch pattern as the body. The stitch pattern features simple vertical stripes of lace and faux cables. It is elegant looking and rhythmic to knit once you get going, and suitable for adventurous beginners ready to try their first lace. Choose linen, cotton or silk blends for a summer version, or yarns with a higher wool content for cold weather layering. The Daydreamer Tee is designed for DK weight yarn, but it can also be knit by holding one strand of fingering weight yarn together with a strand of silk mohair for a softer, and slightly warmer fabric for transitional seasons. For the stitch patterns to show their best, I recommend choosing a solid or slightly tonal colorway. The length of the body and sleeves is easily modified to suit your measurements. I recommend trying the tee on as you go to find your perfect fit. For a more cropped look, simply work fewer rounds on the body; 15–20 cm / 6–8 inches makes for a beautiful crop. Due to the lace pattern repeat and keeping it continuous across all sizes, the Daydreamer Tee comes in 6 sizes rather than my usual 9. That said, you can fine-tune the fit by adjusting your gauge. The recommended ease is 5–15 cm / 2–6 inches, but choose a smaller size or tighter gauge for a slimmer fit with 0–5 cm / 0–2 inches of ease, or size up for a more oversized look with 20–30 cm / 8–12 inches of ease.
