도안 상세 설명 구글번역기로 번역하기
This is a written crochet pattern for the “Checkers Travel Set” - this includes instructions on how to make the checkers (also known as draughts) themselves along with a fold-up/roll-up rainbow-themed board for easy portability and travel. Two pockets (integrated into the board) keep the checkers organised and securely stored when you’ve finished playing.
The pattern is available in both US and UK terms. The PDF file is 16 pages long with detailed instructions and lots of photos. In addition to Ravelry, this pattern is also available on my Etsy store to purchase.
This pattern is suitable for crocheters that are already familiar with basic crochet stitches/techniques (e.g. in US terms: ch, MR, sc, dc, colour changing, working over ‘inactive’ yarn while using colour changes, etc.). It is particularly important that you are already very comfortable/competent at colour changing and hiding/carrying your yarn inside sts.
The board is worked predominantly in rows, with the border worked in rounds. The pockets are worked in rows. The checkers are worked in rounds.
Materials & Tools Required:
• DK weight yarn is recommended; however, you can choose to use a thicker weight yarn if you would like a larger board than mine. I wouldn’t recommend a weight much thinner than DK as it may start to get a bit fiddly to play with a smaller board/checkers than mine.
• A crochet hook that matches your yarn weight
• Tapestry/finishing needle
• Stitch markers (optional)
• Two buttons (optional but recommended)
• Small amount of thread for sewing on buttons
No specific gauge is required. However for reference (if you want to match my exact board size) my gauge was (in US terms) 27 dc sts and 13 dc rows in 10cm.
Using a 3mm hook and DK weight yarn my finished checkerboard (when lying flat, incl. the grey border & and excl. the pockets) measured 20.3cm x 21.5cm (i.e. 8” x 8.5”).
A pattern tester using a worsted weight yarn and a 3.5mm hook resulted in a 10” x 10.5” board. A different tester using an Aran weight yarn and a 3.5mm hook resulted in a 12” x 12” board.
