FIT AND ADJUSTMENTS The bucket hat is crocheted from the top down. Most increases are made at the beginning, then you crochet in the round without increases through the middle section, and finally increases are made in the brim, though not as many as at the top of the crown. It is possible to increase by 6 stitches instead of 12 stitches evenly distributed on the last increase round of the crown. This will give you half a size smaller head circumference. Note that the 6 sections where no increases are made will become one stitch narrower than the others, and this is adjusted by increasing 1 stitch only in these sections on the first increase round of the brim. Continue increasing as normal from the next increase in the brim as shown in the chart. If you want the brim to increase more quickly from the start, you can begin the remaining increases on the second round of the brim instead of the third. Try the hat on to check whether the crown height is sufficient before starting the brim.
