Vesterlys Cardigan

Vesterlys Cardigan is a timeless and airy long cardigan in kimono style, inspired by Jutland’s sand, sea, and sky. Knitted in soft garter stitch stripes, it captures the feeling of the Danish west coast’s light and wind. The design is simple and generous, with an over-sized fit that keeps you warm down to your legs and three-quarter sleeves that give a light and relaxed look. It is knitted in the feather-weight yarn CaMaRose Snefnug, which makes the cardigan both soft and embracing, yet airy to wear. The light base color is broken up by two contrasting stripes, creating a rhythm and a modern twist in an otherwise minimalistic expression. The cardigan is worked top-down: first the back piece on its own, then stitches are picked up for the front pieces, which are worked one at a time until the upper body has reached sufficient length. The front and back pieces are then joined, and the body is worked back and forth. Finally, stitches are picked up along the front edges and the back neckline, and the front band is worked back and forth.
