Eileabor Cardigan

The Eileabor Cardigan is a soft, and romantic, open front cardigan. Designed to be worn over other garments, this piece is perfect for layering, and carrying warm weather outfits into cooler transition weather. The fit is relaxed and cozy. The design features all-over lace work, and lateral braid accents. The shoulders are drop-style and the sleeves are full, with a gather just above the cuffs. The pattern offers instructions for three garment options, a long sleeved, short sleeved (tee), or vest version, as well as a cropped, or full length, version of any of these options. Pictured in the sample photos is the long sleeved version with full length body, which ends at mid-hip. The pattern is size inclusive, and offers thirteen adult sizes, as well as including optional instructions for adjusted drop shoulder height for bodies with a larger bust and shorter arms/torso to get the perfect fit. Overview How the garment is worked: The sweater is a drop shoulder design. It is worked flat, from the bottom-up. German short rows are used to raise and shape the shoulders. The body is worked in one piece, then separated into the front and back sections. The front and back sections are worked separately, flat, and joined at the tops of the shoulders. After the body is fully completed, the sleeve stitches are picked up, from around the armhole, and worked down to the cuff. This garment has less fabric in the front than a cardigan that is meant to be worn buttoned, so that it lays flat, without a surplus of fabric in the underarm, and holds its shape when worn open over other garments. If desired, and as is pictured in the sample photos, button holes and buttons can be added. They will be functional, but may not fit nicely buttoned, especially on bust sizes E and up, as that is NOT the intended fit of this piece.
