**Construction**
The City Pop Top is knit bottom-up. The body is knit in the round before splitting for the front and back and later for straps. Straps are seamed together using kitchener stitch. I-cords are used for the hems.
**Gauge**
Using 4.0 mm (US 6) needles, 23 sts x 54 rows per 4 in x 4 in (10cm x 10cm) in Transition Motif (detailed in pattern).
**Sizing**
1 (2, 3) (4, 5). Sample shown in size 1 (without larger-bust modification). There is an intended 0-4 inches (0-10cm) of negative ease.
Finished chest circumference (without larger-bust modification) (A): Approx. 32 (36, 39) (43, 46) inches / 81 (91, 99) (109, 117) cm.
Body length (B): Approx. 10, (11, 12) (13, 14) inches / 24.5 (28, 30.5) (33, 35.5) cm.
Length minus straps (C): Approx. 13 (14, 15.5) (16.5, 18) inches / 33 (35.5, 39) (42, 46) cm.
Armhole height (D): Approx. 8 (8, 8.5) (8.5, 9) inches / 20 (20, 22) (22, 23) cm.
The pattern also includes some optional modifications to improve fit:
***Larger bust modifications (LB1, LB2):***
*For larger chest sizes, it may be preferable to have the front be wider than the back. This can be done by removing 1-2 buildings when working the Back. Note that around 1.5in (4cm) of the chest circumference will be subtracted by removing each building. There will be notes in the charts for where to do this. Removing 1 building (LB1) is recommended for cup sizes D-DD and 2 buildings (LB2) for cup sizes E+. **Please note that this modification and adjustments for larger sizes were not added until after initial testing and are still being re-tested. If you are interested in test-knitting this modification in sizes 4 or 5 (in exchange for this pattern to be heavily discounted + another free pattern after testing!), please reach out to lofi.knits@gmail.com!***
***Narrower shoulder modification:***
*The base pattern is better suited for broad shoulders. There are additional instructions upon splitting for the front and back on how to adjust the pattern for narrower shoulders, though this may cut into the buildings along the sides slightly.*
**Yarn**
MC: Noro Kompeito in Isesaki, DK, 35% Cotton, 35% Silk, 30% Nylon (Polyamide), 450m/492yd per 150g.
CC: Juniper Moon Cirrus in White, DK, 100% Cotton, 300m/328yd per 100g.
1 (1, 2) (2, 2) balls for MC (Isesaki). Approx 400 (450, 500) (550, 600) m / 437 (492, 546) (601, 656) yds.
1 (1, 2) (2, 2) balls for CC (White). Approx 250 (300, 350) (400, 450) m / 273 (328, 383) (437, 492) yds.
**Needles and Notions**
This pattern uses 4.0mm (US 6) needles for the body and straps, and 3.5mm (US 4) needles for the hems. A few stitch markers and a tapestry needle are also needed. If you’d like to tighten up the back neckline hem relative to the front, an elastic or 3-3.25mm (US 2.5/3) needles may also be useful.
**Difficulty**
Intermediate-Advanced. Familiarity with colorwork and reading charts recommended.
***Thanks so much to all the test-knitters for this pattern! The feedback regarding fit, especially in the larger sizes was incredibly helpful to make this pattern as accessible as possible to a range of shapes and sizes. The larger-bust and narrower-shoulder modifications were added with their gracious input!***
