When we reached the end of winter, I wanted to work a very romantic set for babies, thinking about baby-strolls in the garden or nearby park. Now, when the knitting and testing have finished, I managed to take some very flowery pictures from the nearest Giardino. The pattern has been tested and proof-read by a group of talented testers (see list of testers at the bottom of these notes). **THE CARDIGAN** **Sizes** **Age and chest circumference, when buttoned:** Newborn - 1 month: 39 cm/15.25" 3 - 6 months: 45 cm/17.75" 9 months - 1 year: 51 cm/20" 18 months: 57 cm/22.25" 2 - 3 years: 63 cm/24.75" **Materials** **Yarn:** I used ”Dale Baby Ull” by Dale Garn. This fingering weight yarn comes in balls of 50 gr/1.76 oz and 165 m/180 yards. I recommend a yarn that knits up to gauge and with a great stitch-definition to work the cardigan. Of this specific yarn you need 260/385/480/600/690 m = 285/420/525/655/755 yards. **Needles:** Size 2.75 mm/US **Notions**6/7/7/8/8 buttons, size 12 - 14 mm/0.5 – 0.6” across. 4 removable stitch-markers (or more, if you want to place markers between each pattern-repeat). Waste-yarn or separate holders for the underarm sts. A blunt tapestry needle. Blocking tools suitable for the yarn you are using. **Gauge** 30 sts and 38-40 rows = 10 x 10 cm/4 x 4" **Construction** The lower body is worked bottom-up and flat to the underarms. The sleeves are worked in the round to the underarms. The lower body and the sleeves are joined and the upper body is worked flat in one piece. Width: 56/68/80 cm = 22/26.75/31.5” Length: 68/80/102 cm = 26.75/31.5/40” **Materials** **Yarn:** I used ”Dale Baby Ull” by Dale Garn. Of this specific yarn you need 800/1170/1740 m = 875/1230/1900 yards. **Needles:** a circular needle 80 cm/32” (or longer), size 2.75 mm **Notions:** 4 removable stitch-markers. A blunt tapestry needle.
