Named after the decorative plates on old buildings to cover the rod ends holding the walls up.
This pattern includes instructions for both the cowl and the hat (in 3 sizes). The pattern is done with overlay mosaic crochet (chart and written instructions are included) so it's very simple to do. You are only going round with one colour at a time and it's all done with doubles and trebles.
Yarn requirements:
50g of Kinross 4ply in Main Colour (Seaweed), 50g in Contrast 1 (Heather), 20g in Contrast 2 (Scots Pine) for either the hat or the cowl. The cowl takes about 35g of the Main Colour, 25g of Contrast 1 and 12g of Contrast 2. The hat takes about 20g of Main Colour, 15g of Contrast 1 and 6g of Contrast 2 for the middle size.
The gradient hat on the last page used about 35g of the main colour (Kinross 4ply in Loch Ore) and 5x10g Miniballs in a gradient of colours as the ‘Contrast 1’ (shown in Petunia, Pagan, Denim, Atlantic Spray and Bondi Blue)
Hook:
3.5mm or size to obtain tension
