Gila Monster

Make your own Gila Monster! The Gila is native to the southwest United States and northwest Mexico. With its slow metabolism and the ability to store fat reserves in its tail, this lizard is well-suited to its arid desert habitat. The Gila and its cousins the Beaded Lizards are the only truly venomous lizards in the world. The Gila Monster is currently listed on the IUCN Red List as Near Threatened. The 49 page pattern includes detailed step-by-step photos and clear written instructions to make an amigurumi-style Gila Monster. PLUS there is a 24 page PRINTER-FRIENDLY TEXT ONLY VERSION at the end of the pattern. This pattern has been fully tested by multiple testers. Includes yarn amounts and hook sizes to make a lizard using worsted weight yarn. Recommended for ADVANCED INTERMEDIATE SKILL LEVEL. This pattern uses basic crochet stitches and more complex stitches (detailed in the pattern glossary). A finished Gila Monster made using Worsted Weight yarn is approximately 18” long from nose to tail tip, 4” tall from bottom of feet to spine and 10” wide from toe to toe.
