Annie's Chaos

All my life I've had big dogs. Large, muscular, sometimes lumbering beasts with coffee table sweeping tails. I enjoy their size and their presence. When my oldest child asked for permission to get a dog I happily gave it with the understanding that he would pay for all upkeep of his dog and we would let his perfect pet find him. I was expecting another large dog with giant feet and a great big old head to take up another full cushion on the couch. We spent a few months keeping an eye out, we even checked out a few litters of local puppies, but nothing grabbed his heart. We waited... and waited... until one December evening he called me on the way home from a day out with friends to tell me he had something to show me. He was so excited and I was excited to know what could possibly make him that giddy. He came home with this tiny, wriggling, oddly shaped, adorable puppy and the biggest grin on his face. "This is Annie, she chose me, and I couldn't leave her there." Annie was a 4 month old little mixed breed dog that another person on the edge of his friend group had. She lived in a cage until my son grabbed her up, gave the boy $75 (I was told $75, my heart tells me he gave that kid more than that) and left with her. Annie is now a thirty pound, oddly shaped, wriggling adult dog. She is world domination smart, adventurous, mischievous, and best friends with Ziggy and Luca.
