Striped Felted Slippers

Get cozy in your new favorite slippers! These no-sew slippers use basic stitches and intuitive construction. The soles are both crocheted, then set aside while you work the tops. Then the tops and soles are joined to create a striped slipper with contrasting edging. The slippers are constructed in full, then felted to the correct size. They will look VERY large before they are felted! Felting is the process of using hot water and agitation to shrink and add density to a natural fiber fabric. This process irreversibly changes the properties of the wool or other fiber. A felted piece is hard wearing, dense, and warm; perfect for slippers! Designed to fit any foot length from 12 cm (4.7 in) to 32 cm (12.6 in) **GAUGE BEFORE FELTING:** 4 inches (10 cm) square is 9 st across and 7 rows tall in half double crochet **GAUGE AFTER FELTING:** 3 inches (7.62 cm) square is 9 st across and 7 rows tall in half double crochet Suggested Yarn: Any bulky (5) weight, 100% wool, Non-Superwash yarn.
