The design combines intermediate-level lace with rich textured stitches—each with a name derived from the plants that inspired them so that you can feel connected to the beautiful marsh landscape as you knit. **The pattern has been thoughtfully prepared with lots of detail:** • **User-friendly, detailed instructions**, with stitch counts provided any time there is a change. • **Fully written instructions are accompanied by charts**, with a separate set of enlarged charts that have darker grid lines, so knitters of different visual abilities will have a choice. • **Helpful tips**: The pattern includes instructions for correcting a missed yarn over (we all make mistakes!), links for fixing a dropped edge stitch, and links for using lifelines, which make it much easier to go back and fix your knitting, if necessary. • **The pattern includes closeup photos** of each stitch pattern so you'll always know you're on track. • **Sizing choices**: The pattern provides specific instructions for increasing or decreasing the size of the shawl if you wish. • **Pattern support**: If you ever have questions regarding the pattern, I’m always available via email and here to help if you get stuck! **Pattern info:** **Yarn**: Fingering/sock yarn, approximately 175 grams/700 yards/640 meters to make the standard-sized shawl. Options are provided to make a larger or smaller shawl; yarn usage will vary accordingly. The sample was made with Murky Depths Dyeworks Deep Sock, a 80% superwash merino wool/20% nylon blend with 400 yards/365 meters per 100 grams in the color “Fresh Cut Grass.” Other wool or wool-blend yarns would work well with this pattern, including blends with silk or yak fibers. **Gauge**: 24 sts and 32 rows to 4"/10 cm in stockinette stitch. **Needles**: US 6/4.0 mm or size needed to achieve gauge. The shawl is worked flat. It is possible to knit the shawl entirely on straight needles, but it will be more comfortable to use a long circular needle (at least 40"/100 cm) so that the stitches can spread out as the shawl grows. **This pattern has been tech edited and test knitted** to give you a smooth, error-free knitting experience.
