Featuring a striking cable panel that continues into the mock turtleneck, Fences is an elegant jumper that is easy to wear and wonderfully fun to knit. The 2/2 rib that introduces the cables is split at the sides for a modern look. A small cable on the side seams mirrors the main cable pattern and the sleeves are worked in stockinette stitch to allow the cable panel to be the main attraction.
Fences is worked from the bottom up in a handsome combination of cables and reverse stockinette stitch. After working the front and back ribbing panels flat separately, the body is joined and worked in the round to the under arms. The front and back are then separated and worked flat using sloped bind offs to shape the shoulders. Working increases at the armhole edges creates a modified dropped shoulder construction, which brings a better fit by avoiding the presence of too much knitted fabric in the underarm area.
After picking up sleeve stitches they are worked in the round from shoulder to the cuff, allowing an easy customisation of sleeve length.
