Hazelnut Sweater

**DESCRIPTION** The lace pattern of subtle triangles is inspired by the form of hazelnuts, translating their natural geometry into a soft, tactile knit. The light brown color gives the sweater a warm and natural feel. The sweater is seamlessly knitted in a dedicated pattern from the top down. The back is worked first, followed by the shoulders. Once the back and fronts are joined, they are knitted together in the round and finished with a 1x1 rib hem. The sleeves are then worked in the round, with two options included: a straight sleeve with a few decreases at the cuff, or a more fitted sleeve that tapers slightly toward the elbow. Two strands of fingering-weight yarn are held together throughout the whole pattern. *Sample: size 1, with 21 cm/ 8.5" of positive ease at the chest.* **SUGGESTED NEEDLES** 4 mm (US6) circular needles, at least 80 cm/ 32" for the body. 4 mm (US6) DPNs, small circumference or magic loop needles for the sleeves. 3.5 mm (US4) circular needles, at least 80 cm/ 32" for the hem. 3.5 mm (US4) DPNs, small circumference or magic loop needles for the cuffs. 3.5 mm (US4) circular needles 40–60 cm/ 16–24" for the neckband. **GAUGE** 19 sts and 31 rows/ rounds = 10 cm/ 4" in pattern (GAUGE SWATCH chart) on 4 mm (US6) needles, after blocking. 24 sts and 30 rounds = 10 cm/ 4" in 1x1 rib (k1, p1) on 3.5 mm (US4) needles, after blocking, fully relaxed. **NOTIONS** 4 removable stitch markers, approx. 16 (18, 20, 22) (24, 26) additional stitch markers, if desired, to separate each pattern repeat, stitch holders, a tapestry needle, scissors. **TECHNIQUES** Backward-loop CO, decreases (k2tog, ssk), increases (m1l, m1lp, m1r, m1rp, yo), knitting flat, knitting in the round, long-tail CO, picking up stitches, reading charts, slipping stitches, Tubular BO. The pattern is fully charted. *Size 6 haven’t been tested, as I couldn’t find testers who could provide accurate feedback on fit.
