Fillide is inspired by an ancient Greek myth of of flowering and rebirth, translated into a fabric scattered with soft blossoms. This is a sideways crescent shawl, worked from tip to edge, with increases on one side and decreases on the other. The gradual shaping creates a soft curve that sits naturally around the shoulders, making Fillide easy to wear, elegant, and surprisingly versatile. It’s the kind of shawl that works just as well layered over a winter coat as it does on a cool spring evening. The design uses a three-color variation of Echo Knitting: each row is knitted using just one color, changing color on every row. The process is smooth, intuitive, and very enjoyable. Slipped stitches create subtle vertical lines across the fabric, while the floral motifs are worked using dip stitches. The flowers are one of the most playful parts of the pattern: delicate blooms, fun and intriguing to knit. The overall result is a shawl that looks refined and delicate, but is simple to work and easy to combine with everyday outfits.
