The Magic of Flight pattern is an intricate ode to…. Is it a crochet butterfly? Or perhaps a mysterious moth? What you envision is part of the magic of this overlay mosaic crochet blanket pattern. As you work, row by row, a delicate winged creature emerging from the stitches. This butterfly (moth?) design uses the relaxing rhythm of mosaic crochet to build a striking geometric motif that works onto a beautiful throw blanket. Some refer to this as a crochet tapestry pattern however, overlay mosaic crochet is a bit different as it allows you an easier way to do colorwork allowing for some beautiful contrast changing colors each row bringing the wings to life stitch by stitch. Magic of Flight is a unique crochet blanket pattern that invites you to play with color and creativity. Whether you choose bold contrasts or soft natural tones (I would love to see this in a cream tonal version), each version becomes its own interpretation of the magic of flight. NOTE: This pattern does not call out color changes. My amazing testers figured out their own color changes but there are no instructions for this in the pattern. 194 stitches wide by 239 stitches tall Gauge of 15 stitches by 14 rows will produce about a 4.5’ x 5.5’ project (without border). NOTE! Depending on your gauge, as well as your yarn and hook choice, this piece could be very small or a perfect blanket for the couch.
