Zosia Cardigan

The Zosia Cardigan is an oversized cardigan with stranded colourwork. The cardigan is worked from the top down in stockinette stitch. First the back is worked back and forth. Stitches are then picked up from the cast-on edge to form each shoulder, and short rows are used to achieve the perfect shoulder drape. The fronts and back are joined under the arms. The body is then knit back and forth until the desired length is reached. Stitches are picked up along the armhole for the sleeves and short rows worked to provide further shaping, before working in the round in stockinette stitch. Sizes 1 to 6 feature a drop-shoulder construction, while sizes 7 to 11 use a modified drop-shoulder construction to improve the fit at the shoulders and the underarm. Additionally, sizes 6 to 11 include strategically placed decreases to taper the sleeves without distorting the colourwork. Stitches are then picked up on each edge of the cardigan to work the button band in rib, with buttonholes along the right side. Finally, stitches are picked up and knitted in rib along the neck edge.
