Tidepath Shawl

The Tidepath Shawl is a 'one size fits all' shawl and uses my own 'Chrysalis' stitch. I owe a huge debt of gratitude to Melanie Berg for the construction of this shawl. Melanie taught me so much about shaping neckwear and using various shapes to create scarves and shawls that fit beautifully, whilst also showing stitch detail well. When I sat in Melanie’s class, I had an idea (which I’m sure has been had many times before by many other knitters) about how to create a stretchier icord edge, on an edge which normally wouldn’t stretch. As soon as I left the class, I tested my theory, and was delighted to find that it worked. My slightly strange icord edge was under-way, and this is the scarf that was born. In this pattern, edges are always worked as a 3-stitch I-cord, but the right-hand side of the right side has an extra row of icord inserted every row.
