Pettson Cardigan

After designing the [Pettson Vest][1] in early 2025, I knew I wanted a matching cardigan with the same look and details. Now it’s here! A classic v-neck cardigan with a modern construction, worked seamlessly from the top down in a rustic wool yarn that will stand the test of time. The shell version included in the pattern is a simple variation with short sleeve caps – choose one, or knit both! Sizes 1 (2, 3, 4, 5) (6, 7, 8, 9) Recommended ease 10-30 cm / 4-11.75” of positive ease at the chest. Shell version shown in size 3 in Sølje held double (colourway Naturgrå) with approx. 30 cm / 11.75” of positive ease. Yardage Long-sleeve version: approximately 4 (4, 5, 5, 6) (6, 7, 7, 8) balls of Matiz, or approximately 730 (790, 840, 920, 1020) (1110, 1210, 1300, 1420) m / 798 (864, 919, 1006, 1115) (1214, 1323, 1422, 1553) yds of worsted weight yarn. Shell version: approximately 3 (3, 3, 4, 4) (4, 5, 5, 5) skeins of Sølje **held double**, or approximately 450 (480, 510, 560, 620) (680, 740, 790, 860) m / 492 (525, 558, 612, 678) (744, 809, 864, 941) yds of worsted weight yarn held single. Needles 4.5 mm / US 7 for rib 5.5 mm / US 9 for stockinette Or size needed to obtain gauge. The body and button band are worked back and forth on a long circular needle. The sleeves are worked in the round using either a short circular needle, DPNs, or a long circular needle for the magic loop technique. Notions Stitch markers (regular and closing), stitch holders or waste yarn, tapestry needle, 3 or 4 buttons, 20-25 mm wide. Both samples pictured have 3 buttons, 22 mm wide.
