The Pigeon Sweater

This one is for the bird-lovers, the city-dwellers, the coo kids. Emulate the form and feathers of the world’s most famous bird with **the Pigeon Sweater**! 20% of the proceeds for the first month of sales will be donated to the Wild Bird Fund. The sweater is worked top down in the round, with stranded colorwork yoke, wide wing-style sleeves, and optional waist shaping. Instructions are included in the pattern for customizing various aspects of the fit, including collar type (turtleneck vs crew neck vs wider), torso length, arm length, and waist circumference. **SIZES** 1 (2, 3, 4, 5) (6, 7, 8, 9, 10) Recommended ease: 4–6” / 10–15 cm of positive ease. Chest Circumference (of finished garment): 31 (35, 39, 43, 47) (51, 55, 59, 63, 67)“ / 79 (89, 99, 109, 119) (129, 140, 150, 160, 170) cm. **YARN** Pictured samples were knit using Plymouth Encore Worsted yarn (75% Acrylic, 25% Wool, 200yd/183m per 100g), in the following colors: Teal A-Delphia (teal), Royal (blue), Boysenberry (purple), Gray Frost (dark gray), Medium Gray (medium gray), and Light Gray Heather (light gray). Note that Boysenberry is now discontinued, but is still available online; alternatively, the color Purple Amethyst is very similar in shade and would be a great substitute. Also tested and very nice: Malabrigo Rios yarn (100% Superwash Merino Wool, 210 yd/ 192m per 100g), in the following colors: Reflecting Pool (teal), Matisse Blue (blue), Hollyhock (purple), Lobo Marino (dark gray), Cape Cod Gray (medium gray), and Fog (light gray). Gauge: 15 sts and 20 rows in stockinette stitch to 4”x4” [10cm x 10 cm] on US 8 [5 mm] or US 9 [5.5 mm] needles or needles needed to obtain gauge, after blocking.
