Gairloch Sweater

Gairloch Sweater is the oversized knit you reach for on those days where you want pure comfort. The subtle texture, paired with the colourwork, elevates the design while at the same time creates a fun knitting experience. The sweater is designed to have a slightly boxy length, however, as the sweater is worked from the top down, it can be adjusted to suit your preference. First the back is worked back and forth with increases to shape the shoulders. Stitches are then picked up along the back to form each shoulder whilst shaping the neck. The shoulders are then joined at the front of the neck and worked back and forth; once complete, the front and back are joined, and stitches cast on for the underarms. The body is then knit in the round. Sleeves stitches are picked up around the armhole opening, short rows are worked in a textured pattern for shaping before working in the round with decreases. Finally, stitches are picked up and knitted in rib along the neck edge. All ribbing is bound off using the Italian bind-off technique.
