The Ever After Vest is a cute, oversized vest in the same style as the Ever After Sweater. It has a crew style neckline with a picked up collar, and is worked top down (flat for the armhole shaping, then in the round for the remainder of the body) with a sloped shoulder construction. The collar, cuffs and bottom edge have a 2 x 2 ribbed hem. The vest is worked to an upper bust measurement during the armhole shaping section, and then some additional increases are worked during the beginning of the body section to reach full bust measurements. The vest is designed to fall to a slightly cropped level. The pattern is intended to be a boxy fit, but has options for waist shaping if desired, as well as adding extra length as needed for the body. The vest is designed for 2-6 inches / 5-15 cm of positive ease. To determine the size you wish to knit, measure your bust and add 2-6 inches / 5-15 cm to find the closest size. If you are in between sizes, size down for a snugger fit, or up for a looser fit. If your upper and full bust measurements fall into different sizes, you may wish to choose size based on upper bust, as the additional increases in the body to the full bust measurement are easily adjustable. My sample is knit with 4 inches / 10 cm of positive ease (size 4 on a 38 inch / 95 cm bust and 30 inch / 75 cm waist).* **Needles recommended:** 5 mm / US 8 / UK 6 (or size needed to obtain gauge) - main body 4.5 mm / US 7 / UK 7 (or size needed to obtain gauge) - ribbing Cord length to match your bust measurement as well as 9-16 inch / 22.5-40 cm cord for the sleeves (or DPNs or 32-40 inch / 80-100 cm cord for the magic loop method). **Gauge (blocked):** Using 5 mm / US 8 / UK 6 (body) needles and working in stockinette: 4 x 4 inch / 10 x 10 cm = 18 sts x 26 rows/rounds -I recommend swatching both in the round and flat, as parts of the vest are knit flat before joining in the round. If your flat gauge is significantly different than your round gauge, you can adjust needle size for the flat portion.
