Classic Cornwall

A collaboration with Hue Loco Yarn, Classic Cornwall is the final Cornwall shawl, completing the Cornwall Trilogy Of Shawls. This is a more classic take on the original Cornwall Coast pattern that started it all. Offered in regular and large size, Classic Cornwall is a slightly asymmetrical triangular shawl that has the textbook “waves” and a modified Cornwall Coast lace border! Fingering weight yarn of your choosing is knit in alternating bands along with Suri Alpaca/Mohair making for a very colorful and light as air shawl! The color combinations here are endless! **Difficulty** Adventurous Beginner - the main body of the shawl contains knit rows and purl rows and rows containing YO increases and simple decreases. The border is quite an easy, but beautiful lace pattern. Classic Cornwall is a great knit for both newer knitters and experienced lace knitters who might want something a little more relaxing. **Construction** This shawl starts by casting on just a few stitches and it grows with increases on both sides of the work at the edges until the body is completed. The left side of the body of the shawl is an i-cord edge while the right side is a garter stitch edge. When the body is finished, the stitches for the Classic Cornwall Lace Border are cast on using a cable CO. The border is knit back and forth joining the last stitch of every RS row together with a stitch from the main body until all stitches have been incorporated. **Yarn** This pattern was designed to use an either a 6 or an 8-10 mini skein set for the stripe sections in the body, alternating with either suri alpaca or mohair, and a coordinating color for the lace border. The Large size gradient sample was knit with Hue Loco’s Cider & Cypress Mini Skein Set, along with 1 skein of the Merino Sock in the colorway Magpie for the border color, with Lana Grossa’a Setasuri in taupe. The Regular size teal sample was knit with all Hue Loco Yarn; Merino Sock in the colorway Agate set against their Suri Alpaca in Sage.
