**Mini Spica** Miniature Garment Study Navigation Companion A miniature garment study exploring cable structure, garment architecture, and shaping within textured fabric. Mini Spica is a reduced-scale learning companion based on the Spica design family, created to support a deeper understanding of how cables influence proportion, structure, and finishing. About this study Mini Spica is part of the Navigation Companion: Mini Garment Studies series — a collection of learning-focused patterns designed to explore garment construction at reduced scale. This study focuses on cable architecture. Working with dense, textured fabric allows knitters to observe how cables affect: • stitch behaviour • garment balance • shaping decisions • neckline structure • finishing techniques The garments mirror full-size construction methods, including working in the round, shoulder grafting, sleeve attachment, and structured neck finishing — all translated proportionally into miniature form. The reduced scale allows these techniques to be explored with clarity, minimal yarn use, and low risk, while remaining fully transferable to full-size garments. What’s included This Mini Garment Study includes: • Mini Spica Sweater • Mini Spica Hat Both garments are technically complete and constructed using the same logic found in full-size knitwear. Navigation Notes appear throughout the pattern to explain not only how techniques are worked, but why specific structural choices are made.
