The Lillian Blanket

*Named after my Grandmother, this blanket loosely resembles a flower, and was inspired by the life cycle of plants. The small flower in the middle goes to seed before it sleeps. From there the seeds begin to grow into stem and leaves before a new, bigger flower emerges. And so, the cycle continues.* **Notes** - Use yarn and needles that are weight to size appropriate. See label on yarn for needle suggestions. Use same size needles for duration of knit. **NOTE** size will vary depending on weight of yarn and size of needles. *I used 8ply DK weight yarn with size7 needles to achieve a blanket that fits a NZ Queen size bed* - I used the self striping yarn to creates the stipes, but you can use different balls and colours when you wish to create stripes - Use stitch marker to indicate beginning of round - As the blanket gets bigger, you will need to move on from Double Pointed Needles to Circular Needles. It is best to do this at the start of a row - Instructions for Circular Cast On can be found here - https://youtu.be/eAZ1zk5ajFU?si=O3p9B6Nw5hI2fkdJ Techniques needed - Knit - Purl - Lace work - Cast On with circular cast on - Yarn over, purl into the next stitch Materials 4x Size 7 Double Pointed Needles 1x (Really long) size 7 Circular Needle (**NOTE** – you can use interchangeable needles for this and attach longer or shorter wires as required). *This needs to eventually fit 600 sts* 900 grams of 8 ply DK weight yarn (or more if you want a bigger blanket) Stitch Abbreviations Rnd - Round K – Knit P - Purl YO – Yarn over K1-tbl – Knit 1 through back loop K1f&b – Knit 1 Front & Back K2tog – Knit 2 together M2 – Make 2 (k1, YO, k1 into the same stitch) SSK – Slip 1 purlwise, Slip 1 knitwise, Knit next stitch S2KP – Slip 2 knit-wise, Knit, Pass both slipped stitches over
