A nice little treat for yourself when the weather is cold. Beginning with a long-tail cast-on, Polar Morning is worked in the round, from the bottom-up ribbed brim. The body is worked in Stockinette Stitch, using two colors to create the motifs. Solid and contrasting colors work best to highlight the design. I chose a natural color paired with purple to show off the playful, cute details. Colorwork is charted only. **SIZE** One size Finished circumference (unstretched, taken above the rib): 21" (53 cm) To be worn with up to 2" (5 cm) of negative ease. Height: 9” (23 cm) **YARN** Aran weight yarn, approximate amount: - Main Color: 160 yards (146 meters) in purple. - Contrasting Color: 60 yards (55 meters) in white. Shown in Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran (55% Wool Merino, 33% Acrylic, 12% Cashmere; 98 yds (90 m) / 50 g). Main Color: Purple: 2 balls. Contrasting Color: Natural: 1 ball. **NEEDLES** US 7 (4.5 mm) and US 5 (3.75 mm) knitting needles suitable for working small circumferences in the round. Needle size is suggested only, you will need to swatch to determine the needle size needed to achieve gauge. **NOTIONS** Stitch markers and tapestry needle. **GAUGE** 19 sts and 21 rows = 4" [10 cm] over stranded colorwork pattern in the round on US 7 (4.5 mm) needles after blocking. Before you measure, please take the time to wash and block your swatch in the same manner that you will wash and block your hat.
