ACHROMA The Achroma shawl is basically a short-row colorwork shawl - just without the colorwork! What you get is instead a lovely textured pattern where the garter stitches play against a stockinette backdrop. The shawl is knit bottom up, which makes it easy to adapt sizewise. Use any yarn you like and a suitable needle and keep going until it’s big enough or until your yarn runs out. It is in particular good for locally sourced yarn from your neighbour’s farm shop in the sheep’s natural colors. SIZE The sample shawl is ­approx 35 cm high x 140 cm wide after blocking. GAUGE Ca 15.5 sts x 30 rows = 10 x 10 cm in stockinette stitch after ­blocking in sample shawl. Gauge is not important in this pattern. NEEDLES & NOTIONS - 4.5 mm/US7/UK7 circular needles 80 cm/32”. - 2 stitch markers. YARN Wool by Annie, Össlöv DK - a ­locally sourced yarn from ­Swedish finewool sheep. 250m/100g, natural white. The sample shawl uses almost 2 full skeins = ca 500m. Any weight or yardage works, but may affect the yardage requirements.
