Happy Camp Cardigan

**I made a sample in Lavender Lune Yarn, listed below AND a sample in Spincycle's Dream State. I used the yarn substitution amounts for my size to determine how much Dream State to use. Red Sample Details: Size 2 Color A - Dream State Yarn in the color: Rusted Rainbow. Color B - Spinster's Daughter Yarn in the color: Love me Like You Used To Color C - Spinster's Daughter Yarn in the color Lulu's Daughter Meet the Happy Camp Cardigan—the Happy Camp pullover’s easygoing sister. It features the same cheerful colorwork motif you loved in the Happy Camp Pullover, now reimagined as a cozy, steeked cardigan. The colorwork band grounds the design with just the right touch of contrast before giving way to easy stockinette and clean lines. With no body shaping and straightforward construction, it works up quickly and is an ideal introduction to steeking. Plus, it feels like magic when you cut it open! This sweater is designed to be worn with 4” - 6” (10 - 15 cm) of positive ease. The sample is Size 2 and is shown worn with 4.5” / 11.5 cm of positive ease. Ease is, in my opinion, a matter of personal preference. The best way to determine what size to make is to measure a knit garment that you already love. Measure across the chest of the garment and double that measurement to get the circumference. Then, choose a size from this pattern that is closest to that measurement. If you find yourself between sizes, I recommend sizing up for a more relaxed fit that will drape well. **YARN IN 3 COLORS** Lavender Lune’s WoolenSpun, DK Weight 3-ply (100% nonsuperwash merino) 270 yards / 247 meters / 100 grams. Any changes that knitters make to gauge or the sweater’s measurements will change the amount of yarn you’ll need. **NEEDLES & CROCHET HOOK** (for reinforcing the steek)* You’ll need two sizes of circular needles, each in at least two lengths. First, knit a gauge swatch to determine the size needle that you need for the main body of the sweater. You’ll use a needle one size smaller for the ribbed collar, hem and cuffs. For the sample, I used: Ribbing: US Size 5 / 3.75 mm 40” / 100 cm circular needle for the ribbed buttonband and a magic loop needle for the ribbed sleeve cuffs. Main: US Size 6 / 4 mm circular needles in two lengths, 32” / 80 cm or longer for the body and 24” / 60 cm or longer for one front. *Always choose the needle size that you need in order to obtain the pattern’s gauge. Crochet hook US E-4 / 3.50 mm or F-5 / 3.75 mm, one to two sizes smaller than your main knitting needle, for reinforcing steek.
