I advise you to make a swatch of at least 20x20 cm (6x6inch) so you know what you gauge is with the yarn you like to use. Then measure in the center of the swatch how many stitches there are in 10x10 cm (4x4 inch). This way you can also aim on the size of the blanket you like. If you like the project to be slightly bigger, you can choose a bigger hook size and or use heaver yarn. Since double crochet stitches and overlay stitches use more yarn than single crochet, stitch type distribution has been taken into account. An additional allowance is included to reflect the increased yarn usage typical of overlay mosaic crochet.
