The hat features a three-panel construction consisting of two textured side panels and a central front panel, all worked in 1x1 rib. The defining feature is the diagonal shaping created by synchronized increases and decreases. These lines travel toward the crown, creating a "pointed" or "mitred" effect. Because of the specific stitch distribution, the hat provides a snug fit that remains comfortable and elastic. A Note on Gauge: To ensure a perfect fit with any yarn, this pattern is structured by gauge (from 12 to 30 sts per 4"/10 cm.
