AN OVERLAY MOSAIC CROCHET PATTERN IN ENGLISH ONLY. The charts are universal so can be understood in any language. With overlay mosaic crochet all single crochet stitches go into the back loop of the stitch and all double crochet stitches go into the front loop of the stitch 2 rows below which will be of the same colour. You cut the yarn at the end of every row and join new yarn at the start of every row, the ends will either be left to create a fringe, or you can create an envelope border, I have a PDF in the files of my Facebook group, link below. Each square is 51 stitches by 51 rows except for the large camping scene that is 102 stitches by 102 rows, double the size of the smaller squares so it gives the design a different look than normal squares patterns. What you get; Fully written pattern for each square. Charts with X’s and grid lines every 10 rows by 10 stitches. PDF for joining the squares. Instructions to make a bag from the squares. Separate PDF of the border pattern. Approximately for each square in Aran/ worsted yarn you’ll need 50- 60m of background colour and 40-55m of your detailed colour, for the large square you’ll need 336m of detailed colour and 463m of background colour and measure 11 inches/28cm. The large square measures 23 inches/ 58cm and you’ll need approximately 300m of the background colour and 200m od your detailed colour. I mainly used Lion Brand Colour Theory [100g/225m per skein], an Aran yarn and I used a 4.5 hook. My background colour I used Bone 690g/1,552m, and my detailed colours were, Canyon 86g/194m, Nutmeg 112g/252m, Raisin 504m/224g, Dijon 202m/90g. for my small borders I used Kate Davies ARD Thir Aran in 551m/424g, Huisnis 164m/126g. for the back of my borders I used a stash yarn Utopia Perfect Aran in Biscotti 102g/204m. I also created a bag from the bear and daffodil squares! It was super easy! Information in the written instructions. My testers beautiful work! Christina O’Connor did a continuous pattern of 2 repeats across and 3 high for her super cute lap blanket measuring 72/52cm with a 3.5mm hook. Christina used Stylecraft DK in black for her detailed colour, 140g/413g/450yds, and for the background colour King Cole Mirage [876] 160g/500m/5848yds. Barb McCuen’s beautiful rustic blanket was created doing individual squares with borders, for each of her squares she used for her background I Love This Yarn in Ivory, 1420yds, for the Racoon’s detailed colour was Greybeard 355yds, the Owl was Toasted Almond 355yds, The Butterfly was Desert Glazed Orange 355yds, the Tartans was in Aubergine 355yds each, the Bear was in Cinnamon 355yds, the Daffodil in Stem Dark Green and Light Yellow 355yds in total, the border was in Dark Olive 710yds. The size of the blanket is 44/65 inches with a 4.5mm hook. Pauline’s gorgeous blanket was created by continuously crocheting the pattern and changing colours along. For the Background colour she used Papayta Love Glitter [1930] a total of 431g and for the detailed colours, [left bottom] Tartan in Yarnsmiths Create Purple 140g. The Camping Scene in Hobbi Universal Colour [19] 265g. Butterfly in Temu Mixed Red 135g. Racoon in Yarnsmiths Lagoon [2522] 45g. Middle Tartan in Opol 4ply Purple Mix 80g. The Bear in James C Brett Twinkle Black 41g. The Owl in Yarn Air DK [865] 120g. the Daffodil in Robin Paintbox [pbx18] 42g. Top right Tartan in Knit Craft [hkf05] 69g.
