Easy Lacy Shawl

This shawl can be made with any weight yarn as long as you pick a hook size a couple of sizes larger than you would normally use with the yarn - you want it loose to drape nicely. This is a perfect pattern for in front of the TV as once you’ve got the hang of it, it’s just an easy two-row repeat. And it’s one of those patterns where you don’t have to count once you’ve recognised the shapes of the lace and what stitches to do where. The only bits that are a bit different are the ends of the row and the middle (the spine). I find it useful to put a stitch marker in the middle if I’m watching tv so I don’t just motor straight past the middle without doing the spine stitches! You will need Approx 1000m of yarn (but you can make any size you like). I used almost all the Scheepjes whirl. Hook appropriate for your yarn to give a good drape - for 4ply (fingering weight) sample I used a 4.5mm, for the Scheepjes whirl (light fingering) I used 4mm. Wool needle to sew in the ends Stitch markers (optional but useful if like me you like to watch TV at same time) Stitches Ch - chain SC - single crochet (US) / DC - double crochet (UK) DC - double crochet (US) / TR - treble crochet (UK) TR - treble/triple crochet (US) / DTR - double treble (UK
