Textus Cowl

*Textus* is Latin for "texture" or "fabric.” The Textus Cowl was inspired by my love of patterns that combine different textures, both because they're visually interesting and because I get bored easily and like to switch up my stitches throughout a project. My goal with this pattern was to create an accessory with a beautiful, cozy texture that’s interesting to make. **Pattern Features** * Photo tutorials - Plenty of photos throughout the pattern help you learn some challenging but fun new stitches and techniques * Modification options - Instructions are given for modifying the length and circumference of the cowl * Printer friendly - All photos are on separate pages from the written pattern instructions for easy printing **Design Features** * Combines traditional and Tunisian crochet - Perfect for experienced crocheters who would like to give Tunisian a try or for those who already know and love both crafts * Practical shape - Slight cinching at the top of the cowl prevents it from flopping over and showing the wrong side of the fabric when worn * Great for playing with color - Make it in two colors like the sample or try a single-color, multi-color, or scrappy version **Materials** * Approx. 416yd/381m of DK weight (CYC 3/Light) yarn - 283yd/259m Main Color and 133yd/122m Contrast Color (Recommended Yarn: [Expression Fiber Arts Alpaca Silk DK][1] - sample used colors Blooming Lavender and Champagne) * 4.5mm crochet hook (or size needed to obtain gauge) * 6mm Tunisian crochet hook (or size needed to obtain gauge) with 16" cord and stopper * Tapestry needle for seaming * Scissors * Measuring tape * 2 stitch markers **Gauge** Regular crochet gauge (blocked): 2" x 2" = 9 st x 10 rows in main pattern repeat (given in pattern) Tunisian crochet gauge (blocked): 2" x 2" = 8.5 st x 6 rows in TKS **Finished Dimensions (Customizable)** Top width: 13”/33cm Bottom width: 18”/46cm Height: 10.5”/27cm **Skill Level** Intermediate to Advanced regular crochet Beginner Tunisian crochet **Skills Required** The following skills and techniques are not explained in the pattern: * Chain * Slip Stitch * Single Crochet * Single Crochet 2 Together * Half Double Crochet * Measuring Gauge * Seaming * Blocking I would like to thank Expression Fiber Arts for helping me bring this pattern to life with their generous yarn support.
