*The Chantal Beanie is worked from the bottom up in the round. It begins with a double-folded brim in 1x1 rib, followed by the main section worked in a slip stitch pattern. The crown is shaped with decreases and can be finished in one of two ways: a twisted crown with six wedges or a classic crown with four wedges, depending on your preference. * Examples of knitted projects can be found on Instagram under the hashtag [#chantalbeanie][1] * The beige hat in the photo is made with Eco Cashmere Vintage col.104 by Gepard Garn [Size 1]. * The green hat in the photo is made with Classic col.543 & Prime col.1180 by Cargiff Cashmere [Size 1]. **Sizes:** 1 (2) 3 The Chantal Beanie is designed with approx. 10 cm [4 in] of negative ease. This means the finished hat will be about 10 cm [4 in] smaller than your actual head circumference. Sizes 1 (2) 3 are designed to fit a head circumference of 54–56 (56–58) 58–60 cm [21¼–22 (22–22¾) 22¾–23½ in]. Before you begin, measure your head to determine the correct size. For example, if your head circumference is 57 cm [22½ in], you should knit size 2. If you are between sizes, choose the size based on how snug or relaxed you prefer your hat to fit. **Finished measurements:** Circumference: 46 (48) 50 cm [18 (19) 19¾ in] Length: 22 (22) 22 cm [8¾ (8¾) 8¾ in] **Suggested yarn:** Gepard Garn (worked with single strand throughout the process): 100 (100) 100 g Eco Cashmere Vintage 50 g = 150 m [164 yds]. Cardiff Cashmere (worked with two strands throughout the process): 75 (75) 75 g Classic 25 g = 112 m [122 yds] & 25 (25) 25 g Prime 25 g = 300 m [328 yds]. **Yarn alternatives:** You can use any combination of yarns, either a single or double strand, that gives a worsted-weight thickness. Single strand: Use one strand of 100% wool or a wool blend with approx. 120–130 m [131–142 yds] per 50 g to achieve the same gauge. Cashmere options can be slightly finer, around 140–150 m [153–164 yds] per 50 g. Double strand: Combine one strand of DK-weight wool (175–200 m / 191–219 yds per 50 g) with a lace-weight yarn (200–300 m / 219–328 yds per 25 g) such as silk mohair or alpaca to reach the same worsted-weight thickness. **Needles:** Circular needles: 3 mm [US 2½] 40 cm [16 in]. 3.5 mm [US 4] 40 cm [16 in]. Double-pointed needles or long circular needles for the Magic Loop technique: 3.5 mm [US 4]. **Notions:** Stitch markers, tapestry needle. **Gauge:** After washing and blocking: 26 sts x 36 rows = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 in] in slip stitch pattern on 3.5 mm [US 4] needles. 26 sts x 30 rows = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 in] in 1x1 rib on 3 mm [US 2½] needles. Please make sure to knit a swatch. Ensure that your swatch gauge matches the given one. If you cannot achieve the required gauge using the suggested needles, adjust your needle size to reach the correct gauge. **Difficulty:** EXPERIENCED BEGINNER ★★☆☆☆ You can read more about the difficulty levels [here][2].
