Very Coo Mittens

**Pattern coming February 2, 2026!** The Very Coo Mittens is a classic Selbu-style mitten construction worked with stranded colorwork, Latvian braids, and some wrist ribbing. The design was inspired by marring my love of these goofy birds and stranded colorwork. They are knit from the bottom up in the round in DK weight yarn with an afterthought thumb. The double-layer of yarn makes for a very cozy mitten! The pattern is 11 pages long and provides colorwork charts, information on choosing the best yarn for your project, and some links to tutorial videos. **Sizing** This pattern is knit in one size. However, it can fit a range of hand sizes comfortably. Standard fit is for a 3.25"-3.5" / 8.25 cm - 8 cm wide hand. This leaves .5" - .75" / 1.25 cm - 2 cm positive ease for a roomier fit over a glove. It can fit up to a 4" / 10 cm wide hand with no positive ease. Fits hand lengths between 6.5" - 7" / 16.5 cm - 18.5 cm. **Yarn** 50 g - Kelbourne Woolens - Eggplant (main color) 50 g - Kelbourne Woolens - Cloud Gray (contrasting color) These yarns are 60% Merino Wool, 20% Highland Wool, 20% Mohair. You can also choose any DK weight yarn of your preference with high contrast colors. **Needles** US 3 / 3.25 mm Circular Needles or DPN (for ribbing) US 4 / 3.5 mm Circular Needles or DPN (main pattern) **Gauge** 26 st x 30 rows = 4" / 10 cm in blocked stranded colowork design on US 4 / 3.5 mm needles **Yardage** It is recommended to use two contrasting DK weight yarns for this project.
