**Kõuvõ** is a versatile piece that can be worn both as a headband and a hat. The piece is knit in the round with a narrow folded edge. After casting off a number of stitches, the leaf-like flap is knit flat. **Kõuvõ** means “birch” in Livonian, an endangered language once spoken by the Livonian people in the territory of modern-day Latvia and Estonia. **Sizes available:** Child, Adult Small, (Adult Medium, Adult Large) Finished length of cowl portion: 18, 22, (22, 22) cm/ 7, 8¾, (8¾, 8¾) inches. Finished circumference, stretched: approx. 40, 50, (58, 64) cm/ 16, 20, (22¾, 24¾) inches. The sample was knit in the size Adult Medium. **Gauge:** 20 sts x 19 rows = 5x5 cm/ 2x2 inches in 2x2 rib, unstretched. **Yarn:** Fingering weight yarn (plus approx. 10% buffer): 110, 172, (205, 232)m/120, 188, (224, 254)yds/27, 42, (50, 57)g.
