Go-to Gift Mittens

The thermal stitch pattern feels so cozy to wear and has just enough going on to make it interesting but still easy to knit. Three circumference sizes, a lot of width-wise stretch, and customizable lengths will make mittens to fit just about anyone you know. This pattern is appropriate for intermediate level knitters who are comfortable working small circumferences in the round. Pattern is 3 pages long and has been test knit and professionally tech edited to be clear and free of errors. **Sizes:** S (M, L) To fit approximate standard sizes for Toddler/Child (Adult S/M, Adult L/XL). *Shown in Size M with a shorter hand length*. **Finished Measurements:** Hand Circumference: 6 (7 1/4, 8 1/2) in/ 15 (18.5, 21.5) cm. Hand length cuff to tip: 5 3/4 (7 1/4, 8 3/4) in/ 14.5 (18.5, 22) cm. All length measurements are customizable. **Gauge:** 20 sts and 34 rnds in 4 in/ 10 cm over stitch pattern in the rnd. **What You Need:** * Plymouth Encore Worsted Weight yarn,(75% Acrylic, 25% wool; 200 yds/ 182 m per 3.5 oz/ 100 g skein); 1 (1, 2) skein(s), shown in color #0658 “Bluebell” ***OR*** 100 (160, 230) yds/ 109 (174, 251) m of a similar weight yarn. Yardage is given for the hand lengths in pattern. Shorter hand lengths will use less, and longer hand lengths will use more. *Note that Plymouth Encore is on the slightly heavier end of worsted weight yarns.* * One set of dpns (or needles for your preferred small circumference knitting method) ***in size required to obtain gauge***. I used US #5/ 3.75 mm. You may need a size or two above or below that. * One set of dpns (or needles for your preferred small circumference knitting method) one US size smaller than above for ribbed cuffs. * 2 stitch markers * 1 additional clip-on style stitch marker * small piece of scrap yarn for holding thumb sts * tapestry needle **Pattern Notes:** Mittens are worked from the cuff up and are ambidextrous.
