Thank you!][2]** > **Attention: this pattern is CHARTED only** The **15 Minutes of Flame** shawl is a small, stylish kerchief that was designed with the idea of making something beautiful, yet quick to knit. It is a perfect pattern for creating one shawl for yourself and one to gift. I’ve always believed shawls make the best presents: thoughtful, beautiful, and one size fits all. This is also a great stashbuster pattern. It was originally designed using leftover fingering-weight yarn and mohair (those special odd balls many of us have tucked away). But it also works beautifully with a single strand of DK-weight yarn, offering flexibility in both texture and finish. It begins at one tip and is shaped by increasing on every right-side row until you reach the full width. Then you decrease back down to the opposite tip, creating a lovely symmetrical triangle. The pattern is for the adventurer knitter: you need to read complex charts and work both cables and lace. If you love a good challenge, this is the perfect pattern for you. The pattern features striking cables and elegant slipped stitches. The main cables form a flame-like motif, created through clever shaping with increases, decreases, and bold, flowing lines. The pattern is charted only. *********************************************************** **SIZE** One size Length: 50 inches (127 cm) Width: 12 inches (30.5 cm) **YARN** The shawl uses a strand of fingering weight yarn held together with a strand of lace weight yarn, but they can be substituted for a single strand of DK weight yarn. If you wish to work a DK weight version, omit all the instructions where it says “hold the yarns together” and follow only the yarn amount requirements for the fingering weight yarn. - 330 yards (302 meters) of fingering weight yarn AND 330 yards (302 meters) of lace weight yarn. Sample uses: one hank of Valley Yarns Charlemont (60% Merino, 20% Silk, and 20% Polyamide), in colorway ‘Sunset’ and 2 balls of Knit Picks Aloft (72% Mohair, and 28% Silk), in colorway ‘Cranberry’. **NEEDLES** US 6 (4 mm) circular needles. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge. **NOTIONS** Stitch markers, cable needle, tapestry needle, and blocking tools (optional). **GAUGE** 21 sts and 24 rows = 4" (10 cm) in cable and lace pattern, flat on US 5 (3.75 mm) needles, after blocking. Gauge is not crucial for this project. However, changes might result in a different yardage requiements and final size of the shawl.
