From there, you’ll work the yoke, shaping it with smooth, consistent increases to contour beautifully around the shoulders and upper body using optional **short rows**. (**What’s a short row?** Short rows are a clever technique that adds gentle shaping by working only partway across a row before turning. When added at the neckline, they slightly raise the back of the neck so the sweater fits more naturally and comfortably — mimicking the way our bodies are built (since our necks don’t sit perfectly flat!).
