Meet your new favorite cozy make — the **Wheat Stitch Sweater**! This stunning top-down crochet sweater combines effortless comfort, modern style, and **[my signature wheat stitch][1]** texture for a design that feels as good as it looks. (And - there’s no sewing required!) ❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️ Special Offer Alert! Add any pattern to your cart to unlock the exclusive discounted price—don’t miss this SALE! ❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️ Construction of your new sweater begins with a ribbed neckline, which is worked in rows, then joined to form the foundation for crocheting in the round. From there, you’ll work the yoke, shaping it with smooth, consistent increases to contour beautifully around the shoulders and upper body using optional **short rows**. (**What’s a short row?** Short rows are a clever technique that adds gentle shaping by working only partway across a row before turning. When added at the neckline, they slightly raise the back of the neck so the sweater fits more naturally and comfortably — mimicking the way our bodies are built (since our necks don’t sit perfectly flat!). If you prefer a simpler, boxier silhouette, you can skip the short rows for a straight, even neckline that’s clean and modern. This pattern includes directions for both styles!) Once the yoke is complete, the stitches are divided to separate the sleeves from the body. The body is then crocheted downward to the hem ribbing, while the sleeves are completed individually and finished with ribbed cuffs for a clean, structured look. Because this sweater is worked from the top down, you can try it on as you go — making it easy to customize the length, fit, and style to suit your unique wardrobe. **A video tutorial is included in the pattern.** **CROCHET HOOK:** [G (4.0mm) & G+/7 (4.5mm) - or size to meet gauge][2] **NOTIONS:** [Removable Stitch Markers][3] [Yarn Needle to weave in ends][4] [Scissors][5] **YARN:** [Berroco Vintage DK][6] 52% Acrylic, 40% Wool, 8% Nylon; 290yds/100g OR [Malabrigo Arroyo][7] 100% Superwash Merino Wool, 335yds/100g Shown in 866 Arco Iris & 063 Natural **Yarn Quantities:** 1200 (1350, 1500, 1650, 1800) (1950, 2100, 2250, 2400) yds Quantities Using Two Colors Ribbing & SC Rnds: 460 (520, 575, 635, 690) (750, 810, 865, 925) yds Puff Stitch Rnds: 740 (830, 925, 1015, 1110) (1200, 1290, 1385, 1475) yds **Yarn Substitutions:** [Cascade Yarns 220 Superwash][8] - 100% Superwash Merino Wool 136yds/50g **ABBREVIATIONS:** blo- back loop only ch - chain puff st - puff stitch RS - right side sc - single crochet sc2tog - single crochet 2 together sl st - slip stitch st(s) - stitch(es) WS - wrong side **GAUGE:** 16 sts and 15 rows = 4” in stitch pattern Not sure what gauge is?
