The **Obsidian** collar embraces form, function and flexibility. The collar has a close fitting neckline and gradually increasing body which creates a delicate cascade of rippled fabric. The collar functions to provide warmth and also as a decorative and somewhat theatrical accessory. Due to the configuration of the design, the collar can be styled in a variety of ways. The neckline portion of the collar is worked in thin horizontal stripes. The body of the collar has a vertical linear design that forks as the width of the fabric increases. Obsidian is worked from the top down in a combination of wool and mohair. The neckline is cast on and worked in the round. Once complete the neckline is folded in half and stitches are picked up along half of the circumference. The body is knit flat to the base. An I-cord is made to secure and style the collar. **Sizes** One size. Finished dimensions: Width (folded)- 15.25” / 38.5 cm, Height- 8.25” / 21 cm. **Gauge** 21 stitches & 24 rows = 4” / 10 cm in colorwork, worked flat, on size US 4– 3.5mm needles, blocked. 21 stitches & 36 rows = 4” / 10 cm in St st, worked in the round, on size US 4– 3.5mm needles, blocked. **Notions** Tapestry needle and stitch markers. **Yarn** Farmers Daughter Fibers, Soka’pii (100% MT & WY Rambouillet Wool; 50g / 248 yards / 227 meters) MC– Chinook Winds:  1 skein.  Or approximately 230 yards / 211 meters of Fingering weight yarn. Knitting for Olive, Soft Silk Mohair (70% Mohair, 30% Silk; 25g / 246 yards / 225 meters) CC– Licorice:  2 skeins.  Or approximately 345 yards / 316 meters of Lace weight yarn held double throughout. **Needles** US 4– 3.5mm circular needle with a cable length of at least 24” / 61 cm (or needle size to obtain gauge).
