"Strandpauli“ is a beach club in Hamburg-St. Pauli ( https://www.hamburg-travel.com/shopping-enjoying/the-nightlife-scene/beach-club-strandpauli/ ) and also the name of the yarn. The “Strandpauli suntan“ shirt can be worn from both sides: The front simply has stripes in a slip stitch pattern called “Tanbark“ and a round neck. The back features an interesting shoulder construction with a wide V-neck which is also deep enough to be worn on the front. Main **needle size is 2,75mm**. (2,5mm for edges and cuff, 2,0mm for picking up sts.) Gauge: **28 sts x 40 rows in Stockinette, 28 sts x 48 rows in Stockinette with Tanbark stripes**, after blocking. *Worked at a gauge of 26 sts x 37 rows, the shirt will turn out approx. 1 size bigger.* Approx. **1100/ 1200/ 1300/ 1400/ 1500 m of a Fingering weight yarn** needed (850/ 925/ 1000/ 1075/ 1150 m of main color MC plus 250/ 275/ 300/ 325/ 350 m of contrast color CC), preferably a summer yarn. For my sample, I have used **[Färbebengel Strandpauli][1]** (50% Linen, 30% Cotton, 20% Lyocell; 350m/ 100g) in colors “Moorveilchen” and “Stahlblüte”. *(If you can’t get hold of this rare hand-dyed yarn, Isager Trio 2 would be a good substitute.)* The shirt should be worn with 10-20cm ease at bust. • **Step 1: Back shoulder pieces:** Cast on sts and work shoulder pieces, in a combination of Stockinette and 2-colored Tanbark pattern, with decreases on one side and (less) increases on the other side. • **Step 2: Upper front:** Pick up sts from shoulder pieces. Work both front pieces separately in pattern, starting with some short rows for the slanted shoulders. Increase on neck side for a rounded front neck; decrease a few sts at armholes. Join fronts, still working back and forth for the sleeve openings. • **Step 3: Upper back:** Pick up sts from the lower end of the shoulder pieces and work to end of armhole. • **Step 4: Lower body:** Join back and front and continue in rounds, ending with a hem in Tanbark. • **Finishing**: Add neck edge and sleeve edges in 2-colored Tanbark [1]: https://shop.faerbebengel.de/?s=strandpauli&e_search_props=d5e22c3-1784
