**Please note that the gauge of 28sts by 36 rows is for the bodice only (fingering weight), while the skirt has a gauge of 20sts by 30 rows in fingering weight held double or dk weight yarn.** The lakeside dress is a top-down knitted dress with a fitted bodice and flowy skirt, neat details on the edgings, and a drawstring belt at the waist. It is knitted in fingering-weight yarn held single for the bodice and double for the skirt, which makes for a cool wearing experience and a faster skirt knitting experience – a perfect combination! Sizes: 1 (2, 3, 4, 5) [6, 7, 8, 9, 10] The dress is designed to have approximately 15 cm/6 in of negative ease at the bust and varying amounts of positive ease at the hips, depending on your personal ratio of measurements. How to determine if you could benefit from adding bust shaping: First, you'll need to take two measurements: 1) your full bust measurement and 2) your upper bust measurement. In order to only require two cakes to hold double for the skirt, depending on your chosen size (especially for largest sizes), I recommend starting the skirt with unicolor held double. You will be able to find information online as to which unicolor shades a yarn cake is made up from, so you can match your bodice and start of skirt colour to a yarn cake perfectly.  Please remember that the cakes are 1000m, so for example if your size requires 2670m for the skirt (size 9), you will need 670m of unicolour for your skirt as well as 2 1000m cakes (and the yarn required for the bodice). Or fingering-weight yarn that meets gauge in the following amounts: 350 (400, 460, 530, 600) [660, 730, 810, 890, 950]m held single for bodice 1040 (1190, 1380, 1630, 1790) [1990, 2230, 2450, 2670, 2900]m held double for skirt.  You need the amount stated in total and will be holding it double. If you choose to use a DK-weight yarn for the skirt instead of fingering-weight held double, you will need half the amount stated above for the skirt. These amounts include a 15% buffer to cover swatching, bust shaping, and small gauge differences. For the sample, 200m of the skirt were knitted with one ball of unicolor held double, before using two yarn cakes held double for the remainder of the skirt. 2.5mm/US1.5 needles (80 cm/32 in cable) or needle required to achieve gauge 4mm/US6 needles (100 cm/40 in cable) or needles required to achieve gauge 2mm/US0 needles or needles 2 sizes smaller than main bodice needle in your preferred length for small circumference knitting (40 cm/16 in fixed circulars, long circulars for magic loop or dpns) for armhole and neck edging and for waistband channel Darning needle, 2 different stitch markers, 2mm crochet hook, lightbulb st m or safety pin Techniques required: Long-tail cast-on, backwards-loop cast-on, binding off using a crochet hook, knitting stocking stitch flat and in the round, increasing, decreasing, picking up stitches If you like printing your pattern, please note that pages 1-13 are the main pattern, pages 14-22 are the bust modifications for d-cup and f-cup
