This easy peasy accent or pet rug works up quickly with jumbo weight yarn. Or, use multiple strands of polyester yarn held together for a scrappy version that busts through your yarn stash! Bernat Blanket Big is only available through certain retailers. Good substitutes are Lion Brand Cover Story Thick & Quick or Bernat Blanket Extra Thick. You will need 90 yd (82.5 m) in total for this project. Alternately, this project is a great stashbuster. You'll want to use multiple strands of a chenille-type ("blanket") yarn held together until you reach the gauge listed below. Keep in mind that you will need approximately 90 yd (82.5 m) in EACH of the yarn strands if you try this approach. US Size U-50/25 mm crochet hook, *or any size needed to obtain correct gauge*.
