Blooming Star Knot

This pattern includes written instructions for making both individual Star Knot and Blooming Knot motifs (either bottom-up or in the round from the center), as well as for making a full blanket worked continuously - either in the round or from the bottom up. In the blanket version, the motifs are not made separately and joined later - instead, you’ll crochet the entire piece as one continuous fabric. You can choose any size and shape for your blanket - square with an even or odd number of motifs per side, or rectangular, in any dimensions you like. I know how hard it can be to stop working in the round just because a motif is finished, so I designed this pattern to let you keep going for as long as you like - and to help you create a blanket that’s exactly the size and shape you want. The pattern is primarily written with a checkerboard arrangement of motifs in mind, but you can also pick your favorite motif and use it throughout. You require two colors of yarn, C1 (a pattern color) and C2 (a background color). Terminology: all crochet terms used are U.S. Technique: Overlay mosaic crochet in the round from the center and row by row bottom up. Double filet crochet (Interlocking filet crochet) in the round and row by row. **Yarn**: for example, Scheepjes Stone Washed **Yarn weight**: Sport. Ball weight: 50 g, yarn length:130 m (142.17 yds). **Gauge**: 11 stitches in 5cm (2”) by 5½ rows in 5cm (2”) in this pattern. **Hook** 3.25 – 3.5 mm. **Yardage**: for one motif, approx. 100 m of C1 yarn, 110 m of C2 yarn. (109 yds and 120 yds) **Size of one motif**: a square 24x24 cm (53x53 stitches/26x26 filet windows, 9½ x 9½ inches ). **Yarn**: for example, Scheepjes Whirl, Whirlette **Yarn weight**: Fingering. Ball weight: 215 g, yarn length:1000 m (1093.61 yds) or ball weight: 100 g, yarn length: 455 m. **Gauge**: 14½ stitches in 5 cm (2”) by 14½ rows in 5 cm (2”) in this pattern. **Hook** 2.5 mm. Hook size needed to match the gauge. **Yardage**: for one motif, approx. 60 m of C1 yarn, 70 m of C2 yarn. (66 yds and 77 yds) **Size of one motif**: a square 18,3x18,3 cm (53x53 stitches/26x26 filet windows, 7¼ x 7¼ inches ). Overlay mosaic bottom up: These patterns work evenly over (a multiple of 52) + 3 (one for symmetry, one for start and one for end). Interlocking filet bottom up: These patterns work evenly over a multiple of 26 filet windows. _________________________________________________________________ Same size as **[Floral Trellis][1]** and **[Rhythms of Harmony][2]**. Compared to this new pattern, the **[Floral Tiles][3]**, **Kaleidoscope** (**[1][4]** & **[2][5]**), and **[Spring Mood][6]** motifs each have one round less when worked as individual center-out motifs in the round.
