My recommendation would be: for S/M light fingering + 2mm needles, for M use fingering + 2.25/2.5 mm needles, for large use sport weight and 2.5/3 mm needles. • Stranded colorwork: Follow the charts from right to left. Catch longer floats using preferred method. • Duplicate stitch: Some of the design elements (birds, marks on the trees, berries) are added with duplicate stitch technique and small amounts of other colors – optional. • Adding beads (optional): To make your mittens more festive and sparkly, consider adding beads for berries to the stitches marked with a B on the chart. Alternatively, you can use duplicate stitch to add berries or add them with a french knot stitch. Or leave the bushes completely bare, if you like. • Construction: The mittens are knit in the round. The front of the mitten has more stitches than the palm side of the mitten (more notes on that in the instructions). The mittens have a sore thumb construction with the thumb gusset growing from the side of the mitten. Once the thumb gusset is finished, the thumb stitches are placed on a stitch holder or scrap yarn, and you finish the body of the mitten first. Lastly, the thumb stitches are placed back on needles and the thumb is completed.
