Knowledge of Double Knitting and Intarsia is advised, however both techniques are demonstrated in a video tutorial. **Construction** The Jacques Scarf is worked tip to tip in Garter Stitch whilst simultaneously working the icord and double knit edges. Intarsia is used to work the double knit edge. Increases are made until the centre point at which you have the option to switch the colours used to make the most of each ball of yarn (sample 1), or maintain colour 1 throughout (samples 2 & 3). The second half of the scarf is worked with decreases and bound off at the end. **Gauge & Yarn** It is always advised to work a gauge swatch to make sure you are happy with the fabric and that you meet the recommended gauge. Each size has been designed to use as much of a whole ball of yarn as possible, this means if your gauge is not correct you may run out of yarn, though a contingency has been included in the yarn amounts. The size of this scarf makes it perfect for warmer weather, this is why a 100% cotton yarn has been used for Samples 1 and 3, though most fibres will work well for this design. Remember you can hold fingering weight yarn double to create a DK weight yarn so this is a great opportunity to use up your sock sets. Please note, sample 2 is made with a yarn that is much lighter than the other samples so even though the meterage per 100g is very different, the same needle size was used to achieve gauge.
